Objectives:

In this third session, our objectives are teaching the students all the basic vocabulary related with the clothes and the weather. When they've learned all of this, we will try to make them learn more complex sentences with Must, Mustnt and the vocabulary learned before.

Activity and Structures:

In this third session, we will teach the students all the vocabulary related with clothes and the weather.

First of all, we will bring some flashcards related with the clothes. We will show them the flashcards with a picture of a cloth, and they will have to say which is the name of that cloth. When they have already learned this, we will pass to the second activity.

Then, with some other flahscartds, we will show them the weather. This activity will be the same as the first one, so when we show them the flashcards related to the weather, they will have to say wihch type of weather it is.

After this, in the last activity, we will try a more complex activity for the sutdents. With the vocabulary learned in the previous activities, the students will try to make structured sentences with Must and Mustn't. This sentences will be like this:

         - It will rain, so I should take an unmbrella

Video Mentorship Session 3

Self-assessment

In this third session, we tried to teach the student some vocabulary about the clothes, the weather and, the most difficult part, structures with the vocabulary learned and also with Must and Mustn’t.

We do it as better as we can and finally the students learned all the things that we wanted. But in this third session, I don’t know why, the students were so altered so it was more difficult for us make them learn all the things. Also, the were so bored with the games that we prepared, for this reason, we improvise a “Simon said” with the vocabulary of clothes and weather, as they love this game, they finally were very happy.

For the next session, we are thinking for something new, more entertaining and active than the other sessions. In conclusion, we think that the students are taking more and more confidence each session so it’s very good for us.

Session 2

Session 2:

Parts of the house

Objectives:

In this second session, we know a little bit how the students are and how they behave, so we have decided to prepare a role play about the different parts of the house. Our objectives are making them learn the different rooms of the house, the different objects that we can find in each one and what we can or can't do in each room.

Activity and Structures:

Our idea is prepareing some games about what we can find in a house.

The first game we will do, will be a "bingo" where they will have to match the different actions that we will show them about the things that they can do in the house, with the different rooms where they can do this actions.

After this, we will show them a flashcard with the different parts of house to make shure that they know all the rooms inside a house.

The second game, with all the actions that they would have learned, it will consists in a conversation with the students in which they will be going to say structured sentences about all the things they can or can't do in each room. Example: I can cook in the kitchen, but I can't watch TV in the garden.

With all the things learned in the previous games, we will try to do a third game, which is quite complicated. Our idea is that the childs describe they typical routine they do in a day. They will have to explain the different things they do normally when they are at home and in which rooms they do them.

Materials:

During this scond session we will use basically a game for kids called "EliKit", which consists in some flashcards with different actions. Apart of this, the students will have a kind of bingo but instead of numbers, there will be different actions, so when we show them a flashcard with an action, if they have it in their bingos, they will have to put a little piece of paper above.

We will also have a flashcard with all the parts of the house so that the students recognize them all.

Self-assessment

In this second session, we try to teach the students the parts of the house, different actions that you can do and where can you do them, at the end we try to do a very difficult game that consist in sentences with can and can’t, for example:

      -  I can play basketball in the garden but I can’t play basketball in the kitchen.

This was so difficult for them because of their age but finally the learn how to do it. In our opinion, this second session have been better that the first one because we know how the students work and what they like or what they don’t like. They also know us so for them it was easier to speak.

At the end of the session all the students know all the things that we wanted to teach them, we were so happy because of that. At the moment, all of our objectives  are solved.

Session 1

Session 1:

Meeting new people and Talking about yourself

Objectives:

In this session, our objectives are basically getting confidence with the students.
We will teach them some different types of food and the numbers.

Activity and Structures:

At the beginning of this session we will present ourselves to our students, and they will be talking about their life, what they like to do, if they do any sports... so that we get more confidence.

Then, in the second activity  we will be representing a supermarket. Each student will play a different role in the play. One student will be the one that enters to the supermarket and wants to buy something and another will be playing the role of the cashier. The other three students will be the sellers of meat, fruit and fish.

We will print some drawings about different types of foods, like different fruits, meats,... so each seller will have a drawing about what is selling, and the one who buys will be able to choose the different drawings. Then, he will go to the cashier and will have to pay all the food with some fake money that we will have prepared for them.

Materials:

During the first part of the session, we won't need anything, but during the second part, we will need the flashcards about foods. We will print different types of fruits, meat and fish, so each seller will have different flashcards about what they are selling. We will also draw fake money to buy all that food.

Video Mentorship Session 1

Self-assessment

In our opinion, the first mentorship class has been a very great experience. We were talking with our children and presenting our selves, the did the same with their selves. This part was so easy to do because they know the basic structures to talk.
During the second part of the class, we explained them the role play that we prepared, for them, this part was so difficult because it was so new for them. At the beginning they just repeat what we were saying so they didn't learn anything new, but at the end they learn all the structures and how to buy in a super market.
It has been a very great experience for us and for the children.
